Overview

About the Norway visa for Indians

Norway is not in the European Union, but it is a full member of the Schengen Area, so Indian travellers apply for the same Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa used across mainland Europe. It permits up to 90 days in any 180-day period. The attractions are dramatic: cruises on the Geirangerfjord and Naeroyfjord, the scenic Flam Railway, Bergen's colourful Bryggen wharf, the Lofoten Islands and Northern Lights over Tromso. Norway's process has two steps: an online application through the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) portal, followed by a VFS Global appointment in India for biometrics and document submission.

Audvik handles both stages. We create and complete your UDI application, book the VFS slot, check every supporting document and draft your itinerary. We can also plan fjord cruises and Arctic tours, and track your application through to a decision.

Norway visa FAQs

Do Indians need a visa for Norway?

Yes. Although Norway is not an EU member, it is part of the Schengen Area, so Indian passport holders need a Schengen short-stay visa. It allows up to 90 days in any 180-day period and can be used to visit other Schengen countries on the same trip.

You first complete the online application on the UDI portal and pay the fee there, then book an appointment at a VFS Global centre in India. At the centre, you submit your documents and printed cover letter, and give fingerprints and a photo.

Most short-stay applications are processed in about 15 calendar days, though it can take longer during summer and the winter aurora season or if extra documents are needed. We suggest applying at least a month before travel.

Svalbard itself is outside Schengen, but reaching it means flying through mainland Norway and leaving the Schengen Area. You will therefore usually need a multiple-entry Schengen visa so you can re-enter mainland Norway on your way back. Mention Svalbard clearly in your application.

Yes. Audvik can complete your UDI online application, book the VFS Global appointment, prepare your document file and itinerary, and arrange flights, hotels, insurance and fjord or Northern Lights tours. We keep you updated until your passport is returned.
