About the Turkey visa for Indians
Indian passport holders need a visa for Turkey, and the route depends on your travel history. Indians who hold a valid visa or residence permit from the US, UK, Ireland or a Schengen country can usually apply for the conditional Turkey e-Visa online, typically allowing a single entry and a stay of up to 30 days. Everyone else applies for a sticker visa through the Turkish visa application centre, operated by VFS Global, with a completed form, supporting documents and an in-person submission. Business and transit visas follow a similar sticker process.

Documents required for a Turkey visa
- Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay, with two blank pages
- Completed and signed Turkey visa application form
- Two recent passport-size colour photographs on a white background
- Confirmed return flight booking and hotel reservations
- Bank statements for the last 3–6 months with bank seal
- Latest income tax returns and salary slips, or business registration if self-employed
- Employer leave letter or NOC
- Travel insurance valid for Turkey for the full trip
- Copy of valid US, UK, Ireland or Schengen visa for the conditional e-Visa

Important things to know
- Your supporting US, UK, Ireland or Schengen visa must be valid on the date you enter Turkey to use the e-Visa.
- Tourist visa appointments can get busy from April to October, so apply at least three to four weeks ahead.
- Carry printed hotel bookings and your return ticket, as they may be requested on arrival.
- Approval, stay length and number of entries are decided at the discretion of the Turkish authorities.

Do Indians need a visa for Turkey?
Yes. Indian citizens need a visa for Turkey. If you hold a valid US, UK, Ireland or Schengen visa or residence permit, you can usually apply for the conditional e-Visa online. Otherwise you apply for a sticker visa through the Turkish visa application centre.
Can Indians get a Turkey e-Visa?
Only conditionally. Indians holding a valid visa or residence permit from the US, UK, Ireland or a Schengen country can typically apply online for a single-entry e-Visa with a stay of up to 30 days. You must carry the supporting visa when you travel, and rules may change.
How long does a Turkey sticker visa take?
A Turkey sticker visa typically takes around 10–15 working days after submission at the visa application centre, depending on the season and embassy workload. Summer months are busier. We recommend applying three to four weeks before your planned trip.
Is travel insurance mandatory for a Turkey visa?
Travel insurance is generally required for sticker visa applications and is highly recommended even for e-Visa travellers. Choose a policy that covers medical treatment and emergencies in Turkey for your entire stay, and carry a copy of the certificate while travelling.
